Description and aims

Studies on the History of Romanian Philosophy is a scholarly open access publication within the „C. Rădulescu-Motru” Institute of Philosophy and Psychology of the Romanian Academy. It was founded in 2006 with the aim of stimulating new researches on the philosophical topics debated over time in Romanian culture. What the editors have in view is not only a historical restoration of the philosophical past in its local and European milieu, but also the reassessment of the past from a present-day perspective.

Studies on the History of Romanian Philosophy publishes thematic issues, the topic being announced at the begining of the year. (See Call for papers). Issues may also contain non-thematic sections.

What do we publish

Studies on the History of Romanian Philosophy publishes original research based on a wide variety of methods. Historical, comparative, analytical, hermeneutic or phenomenological approaches are equally of interest.

Studies on the History of Romanian Philosophy does not publish ad hominem and ideologically biased arguments.

Studies on the History of Romanian Philosophy encourages contributions from professionals in related fields and is especially interested in involving postgraduate students in discussing the announced topics.

Studies on the History of Romanian philosophy‘s main language is Romanian, but articles in English are also taken into consideration.

How to submit an article

Target audience

The target readership consists primarily of professionals and students in the field of philosophy, but not exclusively. Depending on the topic, the publication is also addressed to readers of humanistic and social literature.

Open access policy

Studies on the History of Romanian Philosophy is published both in print and online. The content is identical on the two media.

Starting with 2020, Studies on tth History of Romanian Philosophy is an open access publication, all articles being available online, free of charge. An user account is not required in order to read the content. The previous issues can be purchased from the Romanian Academy’s Publishing House or by accessing the online libraries mentioned in the Online Availability section. A limited number of the articles included in the issues prior to 2020 are also available for download on this website. (See Previous Issues)

The articles published on this website are free of charge. They can be freely downloaded, used and shared, on the condition that the author is mentioned and a link to the website page is provided.
